The Archive

The archive comprises three major areas of collection:

  • The bulk of the material is a collection of oral history recordings of personal reminiscences of former and current employees within the print and publishing industry.
  • Photographs and videos of current work practices are also being gathered.  These provide a living record of the industry before further technological changes are made to it in the near future.
  • The oral and contemporary archival collection is enhanced by the collection of ephemeral material relating to the industry, such as trade literature, historical photographs and relevant memorabilia. The archive collection is indexed and catalogued and made available for consultation.

The archive and database are available for consultation as part of the Edward Clark Collection, an important resource for printing and publishing history located in Napier University.  If you would like to consult the online database of interview summaries please click here and search for SAPPHIRE under name of person or organisation search.  Alternatively, you can search through a list of available index sheets.
