The art of papermaking began as early as 150 B.C. when the Chinese made paper using bark and other plant fibres. Since then, papermaking has advanced from a hand made cottage industry to widespread industrial production processes.
This part of the website offers an introductory view of papermaking processes from the seventeenth century onwards.
